       Ullman racing sails are the result of years of racing and testing sails in one-design fleets.  Ullman Sails is often perceived as a one-design sailmaker.  In reality this distinction is the reason that we are also the choice sailmaker  for PHRF and IMS  sails. What better way is there to develop fast sail shape than through one-design development?  The advantage of development in sail shape through the use of identical boats in tremendous. What we learn here is transferred to handicap boats and has proven to be as successful in this media as in one-design.

Ullman Sails Virginia works closely with the manufacturers of sail cloth, to aid in the development and improvement of racing sail cloth. We continually insist on superior cloth for our projects while bringing our  critique, suggestions and testing to the table.

Some sailmakers use words like Grand Prix, club racing etc. to classify their racing sails. We do not use these classifications. Selection of racing sail cloth is  by application, or cost. Carbon Fiber does not belong on a 20 ft. boat. There is no advantage. We recommend cloth where it is beneficial.

All of our sails are grand prix, regardless of the cloth used. The same design and construction effort is put into every single sail that wears the Ullman logo.
