Traditional Vessels We’ve Worked On
Traditional Details
Our sailmakers have built a variety of traditional sails incorporating sailmaking methods and techniques of olden times.
Utilizing both modern stainless steel pressed rings and locally fabricated stainless steel corner rings, as well as traditionally laid up grommets and hand worked cringles, we offer a wide range of options.
Our most recent, and most traditionally built sails have been for Mayflower II, Godspeed, and Discovery.
Her sails included hand sewn boltrope along every edge, hand worked cringles in the boltrope, hand sewn grommets along the edges and in the corners, as well as wormed, parceled, and served corners and cringles.
We have built and repaired sails for a number of traditional vessels ranging from 15’ shad boats to 300' traditionally rigged tall ships.
We have a wide range of experience working with Oceanus, Clipper Cloth, Egyptian Cream Dacron, and Tanbark, and are proficient in all types of traditional sailmaking and ropework.
